The 2021 D’Arcy McGee Beacon Fellowship hosted by Trinity College Dublin
This website accompanies the public lecture which will be offered on March 15th 2021 at 5pm (Dublin time) by Dr. Frederic Fovet. The lecture is entitled Generating momentum towards inclusion across campuses: Using Universal Design for Learning to create a common discourse, and forms part of the 2021 D'Arcy McGee Beacon Fellowship which was awarded to Dr. Fovet and the School of Education, Trinity College Dublin. The lecture is being hosted by the School of Education of Trinity College Dublin and Trinity Inclusive Curriculum. The lecture discusses the development of UDL within the Canadian post-secondary sector as a framework for the inclusion of all diverse learners, and examines both recent successes and remaining challenges. The lecture also marks the scheduled kick-off for a wide momentum by Trinity Inclusive Curriculum to promote the development of inclusive teaching and learning across Trinity College Dublin, and will seek to engage the campus community around the topic of UDL implementation. More widely the public lecture also seeks to serve the needs of the post-secondary sector in Ireland more generally, and to address the needs of the numerous institutions currently exploring the implementation of UDL beyond disability and impairment. This website seeks to model UDL and to offer multiple pathways for participants to engage with the content of the public lecture. It contains resources and offers more depth into certain themes than the one hour lecture will allow for. The website contains information in text and video formats. Dr. Fovet encourages participants in the lecture to also reach out – particularly on Twitter by using his handle: @Ffovet – if they have questions, before, during, or after the event.
